Hi, Iβm Sarah.
I am starting a new venture living in Sicily and helping connect travelers and adventures to all the things I love about my new home.
I am an 80βs California kid, lucky to have grown up in an outdoor playground with the sun, ocean, hiking, snowboarding, surfing etc. Farm-to-table food, our Napa wine culture, tech and entrepreneurship.
My family is an immigrant family from the island Pico in The Azores of Portugal and former Yugoslavia.
I moved to Italy the first time in 2004 when I was 18.
Back then Italians basically only spoke Italian. There were no smart phones, no Google Maps. Nobody even had a Facebook page. There were internet caffes to send an email to family and friends, when they decided to open.
Italians and their culture captivated me because of the passion and dedication to their rituals and to their families.
From Italy I moved to Greece, after Greece I began my studies at The Culinary Institute of America. This lead me to Thailand to cook and work at Six Senses Sustainable & Luxury Resort on the island Ko Samui.
When I came back to San Francisco I worked as a Professional Cheesemonger, in Wine as a Sommelier, as a Chef on private Yachts in the bay. And then by chance the world of Private Aviation found me.
I spent 7 years flying and cooking around the world, which was a bit of a dream life. And a wild one. It made me extremely detailed, organized, professional, focused but also flexible & adaptable.
In the midst of Covid when we were all forced to slow down, I found myself exhausted and wanting a calmer and healthier lifestyle.
Italy was always in the back of my mind since 2004, and so in 2021 I enrolled in The University of Gastronomic Sciences in the north of Italy and moved back.
In 2023 I made my way to Sicily because I (literally) got too cold in the north. When I arrived here I immediately felt the warmth and heat of not only the climate but the people. I fell in love with how passionate Sicilians and those who adopted Sicily as their home are. Along with the traditions and food of this island.
So now I am on a mission to use my skillset, being very organized, professional, precise etc to lift up and connect the people of this island, and all the special things they create to all of you.
